PhoneInfoga
Local framework for basic facts about an international phone number.
Published by sundowndev.
In short
PhoneInfoga is a free phone-number framework by sundowndev. It reads an international number and returns standard fields such as country, area, carrier, and line type, then can run optional scanners you configure. The project README says it is stable but unmaintained. A result is a lead. It does not prove who owns the number, and a scanner that is not configured simply does not run.
Product pricing strategy
02
Free
PhoneInfoga is free. The repository and the documentation site do not sell a seat or a credit pack. You install it and run it locally. Optional scanners may call outside services that have their own accounts. Those accounts are not a PhoneInfoga price.
Utility and features
03
PhoneInfoga is a local program. The README and the documentation site describe the same first step: parse an international number and report country, area, carrier, and line type. Further scanners are optional and have to be configured. The docs also describe a browser interface and a REST API for that same workflow. The project does not ship a hosted lookup you pay for.
- Numbering-plan fields. Country, area, carrier, and line type come first. That is what the number itself supports.
- Optional scanners. Footprints from external services run only after you configure them. An empty scanner is an empty result.
- Local interfaces. The docs describe a command, a browser UI, and a REST API. None of those is a public search website.
The README is explicit about status. The tool is stable, bugs may not be fixed, and the repository could be archived. Plan on that before you put it in a procedure. A carrier name is not a subscriber name. Compare it with Have I Been Pwned or DeHashed only when you already have an email or a breach question, which is a different identifier.
- 1
Install from the repository or the documentation site, on a machine you control.
- 2
Query a number you are allowed to investigate. Read the country, carrier, and line type first.
- 3
Turn on a scanner only when you have configured it and you can explain the source.
- 4
Write down the date. An unmaintained tool will drift from the services it calls.
Caveats
04
The README says the project is stable but unmaintained, and that the repository could be archived. Do not assume the next bug will be fixed.
Country, carrier, and line type are numbering-plan facts. They are not the name of the person who answers the phone. A scanner result is only as current as the service you configured.

Potential use cases
06
- A phone number is already in the case. Run PhoneInfoga locally for the numbering-plan fields the README describes: country, area, carrier, and line type. The output is those facts about the number, not the subscriber’s name. Write them next to the number with the date. A scanner module is only as current as the service you configured. Pivot a carrier question to the carrier’s own process if you actually need the subscriber. This tool will not give you that name.
- You need to separate a mobile range from a VoIP-looking range before anyone chases a person. Use the line type. The output is a classification from the numbering plan, which can be reassigned. Do not tell a story about who answers the phone. The pitfall is reading a carrier name as an identity.
- Keep the local note of what the tool returned beside the number, including which scanners were configured. An empty scanner is a configuration result. Re-run after you update the binary. The project has said it is stable but unmaintained. Do not expect a fix.
Hard cases
The case where the first result is easy to over-read.
The carrier name becomes a person
The output says a mobile carrier and a region. That is the number’s allocation, which changes and which is not the human who received the call. Put the fields in the note and stop. If the case needs a subscriber, that is legal process with the carrier, not another PhoneInfoga flag. A later scan that fails does not erase the numbering-plan fields from the first run. Date both.
Questions
Is PhoneInfoga free?
Yes. The project does not sell a plan. Outside scanners can require their own API accounts.
Is PhoneInfoga still maintained?
The README says it is stable but unmaintained, and that the repository could be archived. Read that note before you depend on it.
