SkyFi
A self-serve shop for archive and tasked imagery from many satellite operators.
Published by Optisense Inc.
In short
SkyFi is a web shop for satellite imagery from many providers, operated by Optisense Inc. The FAQ gives two price stories and does not merge them. One answer says an existing image starts at $15 and a new image starts at $200. Another says imagery starts at $1 a square kilometre, optical archive from providers including Vantor, Planet, and Satellogic from $5, optical tasking from $8, and Umbra SAR from $450 a scene for archive and $675 for tasking. Use the line that matches the order, then read the cart.
Product pricing strategy
02
Free and paid
SkyFi's FAQ, opened 16 Oct 2026, contains two price blocks. Keep them apart. The pricing-work answer says a single existing image starts at $15 and a single new image starts at $200, with the total set by area, sensor, and resolution. The cost answer says rates start at $1 a square kilometre, optical archive from $5 and tasking from $8, and Umbra SAR from $450 archive and $675 tasking per scene. Neither block is a quote for your polygon until the cart shows it. Open Data is the free low-resolution filter, not the $15 image. SkyFi Pro is mentioned as enterprise pricing without a figure.
Utility and features
03
skyfi.com describes a self-serve Earth-intelligence platform: search an archive, task a new collect, run analytics, and pay by card, with an API for larger workflows. The FAQ says an existing image was already captured and a new image is tasked for a time window, a resolution, and a sensor. Existing images can be previewed, including cloud, and the FAQ says those orders are not refunded. A new image that misses the window or comes back cloudier than ordered is refunded or reordered. Downloads of existing images are promised within 24 hours of the order. New images are promised 48 hours after capture.
- Existing, new, and open. The FAQ separates archive purchases, tasked collects, and a free Open filter.
- Two published price stories. One answer is per image. The other is per square kilometre and per SAR scene. Both are on the FAQ.
- Many operators, one cart. The cost answer names Vantor, Planet, Satellogic, and Umbra as sources SkyFi sells.
The same FAQ's cost answer is a second table: $1 a square kilometre as the floor, optical archive from $5 and tasking from $8 for 15 cm to 1 m imagery from providers it names as Vantor, Planet, and Satellogic, Umbra SAR from $450 and $675 a scene, and 3D products from $7.50 a square kilometre. Open Data is a third door: free existing images from open sources, chosen with an Open filter, described as low resolution. The FAQ also says 30–50 cm imagery lets you see, but not identify, people. This listing did not complete a purchase, so it describes the FAQ and not a paid download.
- 1
Decide whether you need an existing image, a new tasking, or the Open filter before you read a price.
- 2
Quote the FAQ sentence that matches the unit, image or square kilometre, and then check the cart.
- 3
Save the provider name with the file. SkyFi is the shop.
- 4
Do not describe a person in a 30–50 cm frame. The FAQ says that resolution does not identify one.
Caveats
04
The two FAQ answers can both be true as starting points and still disagree for a real order. Do not average $15 and $5 into a single SkyFi price. Read the cart. Existing-image sales are final once you have seen the preview, according to the FAQ. A cloudy new collect is the case they say they refund.
The FAQ's note on 30–50 cm imagery is the vendor saying you may see people and not identify them. This listing does not teach that identification, and a pixel is not a name. Provider licenses still apply. SkyFi says you may share an image with attribution and may not resell the image itself. Open Data is a different license and a lower resolution. The explore app was not captured.
Potential use cases
06
- You want one existing image and you will not open the operator's own contract. Read the SkyFi FAQ line that prices a single existing image from $15, then open the cart for your polygon. Do not mix that figure with the other FAQ answer, which starts at $1 a square kilometre and quotes optical archive from $5. They are different units. The provider name on the order, Vantor or Planet or Satellogic or someone else, goes in the caption next to SkyFi.
- The collect has not happened yet. Use the new-image line, which starts at $200 in one FAQ answer and from $8 a square kilometre for optical tasking in the other. The FAQ says a new image that misses the window or comes back cloudier than ordered is refunded or reordered, and that delivery is 48 hours after capture. An existing image, once previewed, is not refunded. Know which rule you are under before you pay.
- A low-resolution free frame is enough. Use the Open filter the FAQ describes, and do not call that file the $15 image. If the sensor has to be Umbra SAR, quote the SAR lines, $450 archive and $675 tasking per scene, and say they are SkyFi's. The FAQ also says 30–50 cm imagery lets you see people and not identify them. Do not write an identification from that frame.
Hard cases
The case where the first result is easy to over-read.
The two FAQ prices are averaged
Averaging $15 and $5 produces a number neither answer printed. Pick the sentence whose unit matches the order, image or square kilometre or SAR scene, and then read the cart. SkyFi Pro is mentioned without a figure. Leave it out until a quote has one. The license note on the FAQ, share with attribution and do not resell the image, is SkyFi's rule for the file you bought. It is not a license for the Open filter, and it is not Vantor's contract.
Questions
Is SkyFi free?
Open Data is the free low-resolution library described on the FAQ. Commercial existing images start at $15 and new images at $200 in one FAQ answer, with other rates in a second answer.
Why do SkyFi's prices disagree?
The FAQ prints a per-image floor and a per-area floor. They are different units. Use the line that matches the order, then read the cart.
